May Hammad

Dr. Hammad is a Visiting Assistant Professor of Finance at Loyola University New Orleans. She earned her Ph.D. in Financial Economics from the University of New Orleans in 2025, along with an M.S. in Finance from the same institution. She also holds two Executive MBAs from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and the Arab American University, and a B.A. in Finance and Banking from Birzeit University.

Dr. Hammad has extensive teaching experience in Finance and Economics courses. Her unique background, shaped by the combination of Palestinian and American cultures, has equipped her with strong intercultural communication skills and the ability to connect with and support students from diverse backgrounds.

She has taught at both the University of New Orleans and Arab American University in in-person and online formats, consistently earning excellent evaluations. Her dedication to teaching excellence was recognized when she received the Best Teaching Award (2024–2025) for achieving the best teaching record at the Henry Bernstein College of Business Administration, University of New Orleans. She is especially passionate about bridging theory and practice, often incorporating investment simulations and applied tools to help students develop market-ready skills.

Her research lies at the intersection of corporate governance, corporate finance, and sustainability. She has published in respected journals, including the Pacific-Basin Finance Journal and the Corporate Social Responsibility and Environmental Management Journal, and presented her work at leading conferences worldwide. Her scholarship has been recognized with several awards, including the 2024 Southwestern Society of Economists Outstanding Paper Award.
